The Purchasing & Project Manager role oversees the comprehensive management of the Schlatter’s inventory while leading cross-departmental projects that support our strategic goals and customer deliverables. This role demands a unique combination of technical, organizational, and leadership skills to ensure seamless operations and successful project outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

Inventory Management
  • Oversee and maintain accurate parts and inventory levels to support operational efficiency.
  • Develop and implement strategies to optimize inventory storage, movement, and turnover.
  • Analyze market trends to forecast inventory needs.
  • Coordinate with suppliers to ensure timely procurement of components, prioritizing price and quality.

Vendor Pricing Responsibilities
  • Evaluate vendor performance, pricing structures, and quality on a regular basis to ensure competitiveness and value.
  • Monitor and analyze market trends to benchmark vendor pricing against industry standards.
  • Negotiate terms, discounts, and volume pricing with suppliers, as needed.
  • Maintain and update vendor cost databases to ensure current pricing is reflected in internal systems.
  • Collaborate with purchasing and finance teams to assess cost-saving opportunities and vendor alternatives.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key vendors and suppliers.
  • Prepare vendor cost comparison reports to support procurement and budgeting decisions.

Office Cleanup
  • Ensure workstations and communal areas are free from clutter and safety hazards.
  • Assist with seasonal deep-cleaning initiatives and office rearrangement projects.
  • Support a clean and professional work environment in line with company standards.

Project Management
  • Lead cross-functional teams to deliver projects on time, within scope, and within budget.
  • Identify and mitigate potential project risks.
  • Initiate change orders with operations and bookkeeper (or office administrator).
  • Engage with stakeholders to ensure alignment with business objectives.

Communication & Collaboration
  • Collaborate with the leadership, production and sales team to maximize operational performance.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement by implementing feedback and Best Practices.

Technical Proficiency
  • Utilize advanced project management tools and software to track project progress and inventory levels.
  • Apply data analytics techniques to make informed decisions on inventory and project management.

Skills & Qualifications
  • Education or comparable experience (min of 3 years) in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, and/or Project Management.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in relevant inventory and project management software.

Education and Experience
  • Experience in purchasing and/or project management required.
  • Experience in agricultural equipment repair, preferred.

Additional Requirements
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
  • Ability to work on-site at our Francesville, Indiana location.
  • Comfortable working in an agricultural and water management industry within a team-focused environment.,
  • Willingness to adapt and take initiative in handling evolving business needs.
